Yonkers’ million-dollar stakes night produces million-dollar handle

Yonkers, NY — Yonkers Raceway’s Saturday night (Aug. 31) four-stakes program, which offered nearly $1.25 million in stakes purses alone, was well-received at the windows.

The dozen-race Yonkers Trot/Messenger Stakes/Hudson Filly Trot/Lady Maud card had a total handle of $1,037,833.

Note once again the Raceway is dark for the live racing Labor Day (Monday, Sept. 2), returning Tuesday night (Sept. 3) with the $150,400 New York Sire Stakes Lew Barasch Trot for the 2-year-old colts and geldings (one division off the card, one included in wagering card).

Tuesday’s program also includes a $10,000 guaranteed pool Pick-5 (50-cent base wager, races seven through 11). Program pages are available at this link.
