Editor’s Note: In a Facebook posting, Standardbred Breeders and Owners Association of New York president Joe Faraldo announced that Yonkers Raceway will race past the previously announced closing date of Sept. 12. Below is the posting.

Yonkers, NY — As a result of the SOA of NY covering purses for a number of weeks and the agreement reached with MGM Resorts Yonkers there will not be any shutdown of racing.

Racing will continue to next week on the same four-day schedule. Thereafter, racing will return to a five day per week schedule through Dec. 22.

Entries for Monday (Sept. 14) will be taken Wednesday as per a condition sheet prepared Tuesday.

Purses will remain at current levels until we see some build up in our purse account.

It has been a long and bumpy ride so far. Stay safe and the best of racing luck to one and all.
