A Wally grand slam Monday at Tioga.

Nichols, NY – Leading driver Wally Hennessey got a driving grand slam during a special Monday (Aug. 29) matinee performance at Tioga Downs.

Hennessey combine with trainer Mike Deters (who had three training wins on the card) with Mach West ($3.20), and Prairie Handsome ($4.80). He got his other wins with Matters Most ($8.40), and Agedchedar Hanover ($3.20).

Mister Daytona N (Mike Simons) captures the $11,500 featured pace.

Luciano N (Wally Hennessey) left from his outside post and led to the first quarter in :26.4. He used a :29.3 second quarter to lead to the half in :56.2. Rifleman (Aaron Byron) was first to make a move going first-up down the backstretch and battled for the lead. Yer So Bad (Jim Taggert Jr.) went three-wide heading for the final turn. Luciano N Had a short lead hitting three-quarters first in 1:24.3.

As they reached the stretch Mr Daytona N ($6.70) slipped through on the inside. JB Mauney N (Mike Merton) would make it five across the track in deep stretch. Mr Daytona N would get there first in 1:53.1. JB Mauney came flying late to be second best as Luciano N had to settle for third money.

Mister Daytona N is a 10-year-old horse by American Ideal. He is owned by Albert Abdala III and trained by Simons. It was his fourth win this season. He now owns 41 career victories.

Tioga Downs return to live racing on Friday (Sept. 2) starting at 6:15.
