Adriano Hanover scores at Bangor Raceway

Bangor, ME – Bangor Raceway’s summer meet concluded with international flavor and multi-sport intrigue on Saturday (Sept. 17) as European football and American harness racing combined, leaving the fans yearning for extra time on the Queen City pitch as Adriano Hanover booted in one of his patented long range goals during a sterling 1:54.2 score in the $7,000 feature race event on closing day.

Driver Kevin Switzer Jr glided the 5-year-old son of Western Ideal patiently up the sidelines in the early going, content to track the credible speed of the Dan Deslandes driven Nagle toward halftime of the match. Second half action saw a distinct change in tactics as “L’Imeratore” swung wide into the corner before sprinting past the midfielders while launching a 5-1/4 length strike past the goal line.

Cheers could be heard from both Parma and Milan when Adriano Hanover paraded victoriously before the Bangor stands with the trackside teletimer proclaiming the epic timed in 1:54.2 as the fourth fastest mile recorded in Queen City action during the 2022 season.

The win was one of two on the day for driver Kevin Switzer, Jr, who honed his soccer skills at Greely High School in Maine.

While the summer meet has now concluded, live harness racing will return to the Bangor Raceway on Oct. 12 when the fall meet commences. Simulcast wagering remains available at Bangor Raceway every Wednesday through Sunday from noon to 7 p.m.
