Ft. Washington, MD — Tyler Davis picked up the catch drive on All The Cookies and did not let trainer Phillip Mitchell down, winning the $10,000 Open Handicap Sunday night (April 23) at Rosecroft.
The 4-year-old son of Rocknroll Hanover stormed to the front in a blistering :25.2 and never looked back. Cajon Lightning came first over and towed favored Kindofabigdeal into the outer flow, but neither could get by the pacesetter and both faded in the stretch.
It was the fifth win in 13 starts this year for All The Cookies who is owned in Maryland by Richard Stansbury.
Carly Roman’s Petty Hanover took the $8,5000 winners over trot for Frank Milby. Everyone’s Talkin set the fractions and appeared to be on the verge of a 10-1 upset, but got rank and tried to pull up in the final sixteenth of the mile.
It was the 41st career win for the 12-year-old son of Yankee Glide in 251 starts, whose career earnings went over $350,000. Toni Freitas conditions the veteran trotter who stopped the clock in 1:55.
Brian Burton continues to find success with young horses at Rosecroft. As the driver for the up and coming trotter EI EI O, Burton has been patient and crafty with Jerry Nock’s 3-year-old pacer Sams Triple Crown. Sunday night, he came flying from the back with another breathtaking brush to win in 1:53.1. The son of Art Official is now 6-3-1-0 on the year. It was one of two wins on the night for Burton.
Russell Foster posted two wins, one of which came with his own pacer, Hi Sir.
