Columbus, MN — The red hot combination of owner-trainer Mark Anderson and driver Dean Magee continued their domination at Running Aces on Wednesday night (August 17), this time by capturing the $8,500 final of the Four Queens series for green pacing mares with Another Opinion, a 3-year-old Kent’s On Nuke filly.
The winner lowered her life mark by two seconds with the 1:55.1 score over Kimmie Cam (Joey Mapes) and Happy Surprise (John De Long). It was the seventh victory in just nine lifetime starts for the powerfully built Another Opinion, who has a mind of her own while waiting in the paddock but who always has her act together once called to the gate.
A race later, the same Anderson-Magee owner-trainer-driver combination wired the $7,500 Open Mares field with Real Suspicion in an impressive 1:53.4 mile. The 5-year-old Life Sign mare also lowered her lifetime best clocking by almost two seconds to beat Tootin Hanny (Mark King) and Castle Oaks (Tim Maier). Real Suspicion, due to an outside post and a move up in class, was dispatched at odds of 17-1 despite being from the track’s top percentage barn and being piloted by the leading dash driver at the meet.
A $6,000 Open Trot was also presented with Big Baller (Tim Maier) overcoming an overland journey to beat Catch K D (Dean Magee) and heavily favored Rompaway Brandon (Dan Maier) in 1:57.3. The winning 4-year-old son of Panama Hanover is owned by the Desomer Stable.
Racing will resume at Running Aces on Saturday and Sunday nights with the regular 7 p.m. (CDT) post times. Racing will continue four nights a week through Labor Day, September 5, when a special closing card of nine $20,000 Minnesota State Championship races will be presented with a special 5 p.m. starting time.
