The April 15 deadline is drawing near for many stakes payments. Below are a list of notices that have been submitted to the USTA Newsroom.
Woodbine stakes payments due April 16
Milton, ON — Woodbine Entertainment would like to remind owners and trainers of the April 16 stakes payment deadline for events in 2018.
A round of sustaining payments for all of Woodbine’s major stakes, including the C$1 million Pepsi North America Cup, are due April 16.
The following major stakes require a sustaining fee payment: Armbro Flight (Fillies & Mares Trot), Canadian Pacing Derby (Open Pace), Canadian Trotting Classic (3-year-old Trot), Casual Breeze (3-year-old Filly Trot), Elegantimage (3-year-old Filly Trot), Eternal Camnation (2-year-old Filly Pace), Fan Hanover (3-year-old Filly Pace), Goodtimes (3-year-old Trot), Maple Leaf Trot (Open Trot), Metro Pace (2-year-old Pace), Milton (Fillies & Mares Pace), Nassagaweya (2-year-old Pace), North America Cup (3-year-old Pace), Peaceful Way (2-year-old Filly Trot), Roses Are Red (Fillies & Mares Pace), She’s A Great Lady (2-year-old Filly Pace), Somebeachsomewhere (3-year-old Pace) and William Wellwood Memorial (2-year-old Trot).
The SBOA Stakes for Ontario sired 3-year-old fillies also requires a sustaining payment for this year’s event (foals of 2015) and next year’s event (foals of 2016).
Woodbine continues to handle stakes administration duties for tracks throughout Ontario. A sustaining payment is due for Grand River Raceway’s Battle of Waterloo and Battle of the Belles (Ontario Sired 2-year-old Pace) and Flamboro Downs’ Confederation Cup (4-year-old Pace).

If sending stakes payments by mail, envelopes must be clearly postmarked no later than April 16 or payment will not be accepted. Registered mail is recommended.

Last call for Hawthorne late closers and ICF stakes
Cicero, IL — Racing Secretary Robin Schadt would like to remind all horsemen wishing to enter the upcoming Spring Late Closing events being offered, that nomination payments must be postmarked no later than Monday (April 16). The fee for all of the upcoming spring-summer meets late closers is $200.
Nomination fees for all ICF Stake races are also due by April 16. There will be a chance to supplement for an increased cost to the 2-and 3-year-old events by no later than May 15 as well.
Horsemen are also reminded that a claiming series for $5,000, $8,000 & $10,000 claimers of both sexes will also be offered beginning on May 11. Nomination payments for these series are $200 and must be postmarked no later than May 1.
All horsemen wishing to compete at Hawthorne Race Course MUST submit a stall application immediately whether planning to stay on the grounds or ship in. Opening night is scheduled for Friday (May 4).

April 15 payment deadline for Hambletonian Society-serviced stakes
Cranbury, NJ — April sustaining and nominating payments for Hambletonian Society stakes events are due Sunday (April 15) and per USTA Rule 12 section 2, must be postmarked by midnight on Monday (April 16).
The remaining payments due on April 15 are those races with previous payments in March.

Second payment due for C$200,000 Prix D’Ete
Trois-Rivieres, QC — This weekend the second nomination payment is due for the 2018 C$200,000 Prix D’Ete for 4-year-old pacers at the Hippodrome 3R. The race takes place on Sunday (Aug. 19).
There was a record 37 horses nominated to the first payment. All nominations payments must be made in order to remain eligible. There are no supplemental payments allowed for the Prix D’Ete.
The second payment must be postmarked by Monday (April 16) as April 15 is a Sunday.

Sun Stakes payments due April 16
Wilkes Barre, PA — The second and final sustaining payment for the Sun Stakes events at The Downs at Mohegan Sun Pocono are due on April 16.
The events include the Earl Beal Jr. Memorial 3-year-old Open Trot, the Max C. Hempt Memorial 3-year-old Open Pace, the James M. Lynch Memorial 3-year-old Filly Pace and the Ben Franklin Free-For-All Pace, which will be held on June 30. Eliminations for these events will be held on June 23.

New Jersey sustaining payments due April 16
Trenton, NJ — The deadline for the New Jersey Sire Stakes and Standardbred Development Fund’s final sustaining payments is approaching on April 16. Normally the deadline would be on the 15th of the month but since that date falls on a Sunday this year, the deadline is extended to Monday (April 16).
The NJSS Premier Division’s second sustaining payment remains $500 for both 2- and 3-year-olds. The Standardbred Development Fund second sustaining payment for both 2- and 3-year-olds continues at $150.
Sustaining payment and supplemental nomination forms, as well as race dates and other information, may be found on the NJSS website at www.newjerseysirestakes.com.
All payments must be in U. S. funds. No late payments will be accepted and no billing notices will be mailed. Certified mail is strongly recommended to NJSS, P.O. Box 330, Trenton, NJ 08625.

SBOANJ stakes payments due April 15
Manalapan, NJ — The second payment of the SBOANJ sponsored Charles Smith Trot and Helen Smith are due April 15 in the amount of $300.
The Charles Smith Trot for 3-year-old colts elimination will be held at Freehold Raceway on Sept. 1, with the final on Sept. 8. The Helen Smith Trot for 3-year-old fillies elimination will be held at Freehold Raceway on Sept. 21, and the final on Sept. 28.

Meadowlands late closers due April 16
East Rutherford, NJ — The Meadowlands is offering a pair of late closing series for horses of all ages, one on the trot and one on the pace, to be raced in May.
The conditions and other pertinent information for the “Hot Lead” and “Lucky Jim” are listed on the nomination form available on the web.
The nomination fee of $200 is due by April 16.
