Armbro View, Chocolate Square win Dover features

Dover, DE —- Armbro View uncorked the second fastest mile for a female pacer in Dover Downs history, scoring a wire-to-wire 1:513 victory in the $20,000 Mares Open Pace on Tuesday, January 13. Chocolate Square used the same formula to win the $15,500 Mares Winners Over Pace in 1:544.

Jim Morand took no prisoners en route to the winner’s circle in the feature race, guiding the Presidential Ball six-year-old mare to her second win of the meet. Crossfire N (Mike Cole) closed well to finish second, two lengths back, while Ann Other Porsche came from last at the top of the lane to get third place honors.

Armbro View, now a Josh Green trainee, has banked $477,467 in her career for Tanah Merah Farms of Felton, Delaware.

Chocolate Square continued her winning ways on Tuesday.

Elizabeth Brittingham’s Chocolate Square, a nine-year-old Pershing Square mare who ran off six straight wins last meet for trainer Don Brittingham, proved much the best in the $15,500 Mares Winners Over Pace. Bret Brittingham took full advantage of starting from post one and was never headed in her 1:544 victory. Nuclear Power (Jim King, Jr.) turned in a strong effort to finish second. Rondel Franco N (Brad Hanners) was third.

Extravagant Sahbra, owned by Jeffrey Franklin and Todd Wise, also utilized front speed as Travis Bowman steered a never-look-back 1:551 victory in a $10,500 pace for distaffs. Movie Magic (Brad Hanners) led briefly before the opening quarter, sat second the rest of the way, and closed along the passing lane to finish second. Tuahiwi Trick N (Ross Wolfenden) took a sustained challenge at the winner and had to settle for third.

Woody Long and T.A. Fleetwood’s Lastline Hanover rallied from off the pace to streak home to victory in 1:571 in a $10,800 Delaware Pace. Lilianna Beauty (Eddie Davis) negotiated the passing lane to take second in front of Heart Escape (Brewer Adams).

Sizer started his two-win day by steering Jeff Bartels’ Scarfie N to a 1:544 triumph in a $17,500 Delaware claiming pace. Market Dreamer (Les Givens) and Rumble Time (Eddie Davis) were second and third respectively.

In the top trot on the program, My Royal Aim, owned, trained, and driven by Toby Lynch, Jr., never relinquished the lead in scoring a 1:571 win in a $10,500 conditioned trot. Pretty Goal Vita (Jim King, Jr.) was second. Crown Pro (Herve Filion) finished third.

Herve Filion won the other trot on the card, taking full advantage of the passing lane to get Highland Message home in 2:011 in a $15,000 claimer. Moriah’s Winner (Hal Belote) was a close second. ENS Gladiator (Kevin Sizer) was the show horse.

Bob Stevenson’s 29-1 Dream CafĂ© stepped out of the claiming ranks to notch a 1:543 victory in a $9,000 Mares Pace for Eddie Davis, Jr. Seasin (Roger Plante) came on to overtake pacesetting RN Artist (Roger Hammer) to finish second.

Monday through Thursday post time at Dover Downs is 4:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday racing starts at 5:30 p.m. There is no live racing on Fridays and never a charge for parking or admission.
