Beltrami and Whitney; AHDC winners at Harrah’s Philadelphia

Philadelphia, Pa – Tony Beltrami and Todd Whitney won their respective $9900 divisions of the American Harness Drivers Club’s trots today (June 26) at Harrah’s Philadelphia; Beltrami with Tidquist in 1:55.2 and Whitney with Drazzmatazz in 1:56.2.

Tidquist, a 10-year-old Conway Hall gelding hadn’t won a race in three years but today he looked like his old self when Tony Beltrami sent him to the lead from the four hole and the classy old veteran proceeded to make very pole a winning one en route to an oh-so-easy 11-length victory today in 1:55.2 at Harrahs Philadelphia.

Kiss An Angel (Juan Cano) rallied from far back to finish second while Mike Polansky garnered the show dough with My Big Kadillac.

The winner is now owned and trained by John Obert.

It was obvious that the betting colony remembered the old gelding’s prowess and those that did enjoyed a $12.20 win mutuel.

A second division saw Todd Whitney hustle Drazzmatazz away from the seven hole and sit a pocket until the backstretch and then rally around Gruden, the pacesetter, and go on to an easy 4-1/4 length triumph in 1:56.2. Steel Reserve was second best for Juan Cano while Slew Foot garnered the show dough for Jonathan Ahle.

Danbry Racing Inc. owns the winner who is trained by Terry Morgan. He paid $12.20 for the win.
