Beltrami, Calabrese, AHDC winners at Harrah’s Philadelphia

Philadelphia, PA – The American Harness Drivers Club moved the Harrah’s Philadelphia for two $9,900 trots today and when each contest was deemed oficial Tony Beltrami and John Calabrese each reined a winner; Beltrami with Worldsstonecold As in 1:57.3 and Calabrese with Shoemaker Hanover in 1:57.2.

In his contest Beltrami got away fifth with Worldsstonecold As as Dante Scattolini  and Mosconi Hanover showed the way by the quarter in :28.2 and kept Lionhead(Matt Zuccarello) on the limb. Mosconi Hanover was still in command when they trotted by the half but he had company when Worldsstonecold As joined the fray. But Scattolini’s charge  braced for

And when they straightened for home Beltrami’s trotter began to surge to the front which he did but he had to brace for a hard charging Momm’s My Dad (Joe Faraldo). And when they approached the wire Beltrami’s trotter was a head better then Faraldo’s as the timer flashed 1:57.3. Mosconi Hanover finished third.

The winner is owned by Tony Beltrami and Triple D Stables and trained by Edwin Quevedo. He paid $10.60 for the win.

In the other split Calabrese and Shoemaker Hanover allowed Bob Hechkoff and Southwind Frost to take the lead and they were comfortable as Hechkoff  cut fractions of :29.2 and 58.4. When they headed for the three quarters Tony Verruso hustled Drazzmatazz  alongside the leader and they were one-two when they turned for home. But in the lane Southwind Frost’s strides began to shorten and Shoemaker Hanover was the strong horse and he rallied to a 1-1/2 length triumph  in 1:57.2.  Southwind Frost held on for second while Tsm Photo Bugger (Jonathan Ahle) rallied to finish third as Drazzmatazz faded and finished fifth.

Sent off as the favorite in the race Shoemaker Hanover paid $5.80 for the win.  He’s owned by Calabrese Farms and Michelle Rickey and trained by his driver.
