Beltrami sweeps AHDC trots at Harrah’s Philadelphia

Chester, PA — Tony Beltrami won both $9,900 American Harness Drivers Club trotting events Sunday (July 17) at Harrah’s Philadelphia, scoring with All Rise in 1:57.4 and Tidquist in 1:56.2.

Sent off as the second choice with All Rise in the first split, Beltrami got caught on the limb from post eight and followed cover from Cambellini (Dante Scattolini) past the half. When they headed for three-quarters, Beltrami moved All Rise three-wide around cover and took command turning for home. In the stretch, All Rise zipped to a three-length lead over Valloria N (Matt Zuccarello) and cruised home an easy winner. Johnathan Ahle rallied Walkingintherain home for second over Valloria N.

All Rise, a 5-year-old Conway Hall gelding, is owned by his driver. He paid $5.80 to win.

In the other split, Beltrami and Tidquist got away third from post two as Bob Hechkoff and River Otter cut fractions of :28 and :58. As they approached three-quarters, Beltrami moved Tidquist out to challenge, and they drew alongside River Otter headed for home while Clarion Hall (Michael Russo) also joined the fray. Tidquist was strongest in the three-horse battle for home, winning by three-quarters of a length in 1:56.2. Clarion Hall finished second, a half length better than River Otter.

Tidquist, a 10-year-old Conway Hall gelding, is owned and trained by John Obert. He paid $4.20 to win.
