Bessie best in Meadows Tuesday feature

Washington, PA — Out well before the half, Bessie was relentless first over, wearing down the leader to capture Tuesday’s (May 21) feature at The Meadows, an $11,500 Filly & Mare conditioned trot.

While Missions Delight refused to go down easily on the front, Bessie persevered for Tony Hall and scored in 1:55.4. The rallying Firm To Stay was second, three-quarters of a length back, while EZ Passer shot the Lightning Lane for show.

Rick Clapper trains Bessie, an 8-year-old daughter of Equinox Bi-Cantab’s Chorine who now boasts a lifetime bankroll of $459,345, for Paula Clapper, Umholtz Racing Stable and Kennedy Sports Corp.

Dave Palone piloted four winners on the 13-race card.
