Billings Series returns to Monticello on Oct. 25

Monticello, NY — For the fourth time this season, on Monday, October 25, the industry’s greatest traveling side show, the C.K.G. Billings Harness Driving Championship Series, will stop at Monticello Raceway with two trots slated to go to post as races five and eight on the 13-race card.

In the first split “Congenial Gene” Miller’s My Victory Song figures to be the one to beat when the veteran trotting mare starts from the three hole. The Ripken’s Victory 8-year-old was victorious on Colonial Downs’ one-turn mile track in 1:56.3 on October 2 which was one of her four seasonal triumphs.

Arguably, My Victory Song’s toughest competition will come from Harvey “Doc” Stein and Zann Fancisco Bay who was knocking on the door, finishing second in both of his last two outings at Saratoga Raceway. The 8-year-old Bowl Quarter Back gelding was a 2:01.1 winner earlier this year at Saratoga.

In the other split Alan “The Intimidator” Schwartz and Distinct Victory get the track oddsmaker’s weak nod and will start from the pole position. But with a great chance of upsetting is Mister Lucky Vec who’ll be handled by 17-year-old Joey “the Lad” Bongiorno from the two hole. The former comes into the contest off two consecutive victories, the fastest a 2:01.4 effort in his last start, while the latter shows a 2:00.2 triumph at Saratoga Raceway in his last outing.

After these events only three more venues remain until the top point earners in the Eastern Region convene at Harrah’s Chester on Monday, November 22, for the Regional finals.
