Blue Ivy shrugs off stablemate, wins Meadows distaff

Washington, PA — Blue Ivy shrugged off the challenge of her stablemate Touchamatic and rolled to victory in Tuesday’s (Sept. 1) $16,200 Fillies and Mares Open Handicap Pace at The Meadows.

Blue Ivy stood tall and delivered a lifetime best performance in Tuesday’s top distaff pace at The Meadows. Chris Gooden photo.

Blue Ivy sped to the lead from post six in a demanding :26.3 first quarter that might have left her vulnerable. But when Touchamatic moved uncovered from third, Blue Ivy found more for Aaron Merriman and triumphed in a career fastest 1:50.2. Pace Baby Pace rallied for second, beaten a half length, while Touchamatic saved show.

Live racing at The Meadows continues Wednesday (Sept. 2), when the 13-race program features a $5,762.28 carryover in the final-race Super Hi-5. First post is 12:45 p.m.
