Paducah, KY — Race Secretary Rod Newhart was “real happy” when he opened the first qualifying box of the season for Bluegrass Downs and found 51 pacers and a half-dozen trotters waiting to qualify.
Qualifiers will be held on Friday (May 18) at 12 noon and kick off a huge weekend at the Paducah track.
Horsemen are reminded that there is a new policy at Bluegrass Downs. No horses shall be permitted on the grounds unless the requirements below are met, per Tim Schmitz, Presiding Judge.
All horses must have a current EHV vaccination on file (dated this year 2018) and negative Coggins (one year). All horses shipping into the track for the first time must present a valid certificate of veterinary inspection dated within 72 hours of entry with temperature on certificate.
As a reminder gates will open at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday for the second jewel of the Triple Crown, the Preakness Stakes.
The live meet starts next Friday night with a first post of 6 p.m.
