Bobby White, 75, dies

Columbus, OH — Bobby Gene White, 75, of Dry Fork, Va., died Oct. 31, 2020.

He was born Aug. 25, 1945, to the late Erma Lindley and the late James G. White in Siler City, N.C.

Mr. White attended Whitmell Methodist Church and worked as a farrier for 30 years. He began his farrier career upon graduation from Oklahoma Farriers College in 1967. He spent many of his years shoeing at Brandywine, Liberty Bell, and Rosecroft Raceway. He also had a farrier shop at Ocean Downs for many years.

He enjoyed his time spent shoeing for Alan Myers, Dale Massey, Vic White, Raymond Banks, and David Banks to name a few. He also shod the race horses Silk Stockings, Rookery, and Nickawampus Joe. He loved being a farrier.

Mr. White was a longtime member of the USTA and Cloverleaf Standardbred Owners’ Association.

He is survived by his son, Joey (Ann); and his grandchildren, Zoey and Zane. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carol; and grandson, Zach.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday (Nov. 4) at Norris Funeral Services’ Mt Hermon Chapel with Reverend Wayne Moore officiating. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 12:30-1:30 p.m.
