Aetos Kronos, who is trained by Jerry Riordan and had Johan Untersteiner in the bike, had to start from the second tier behind the gate with post position 12. He was sitting last most of the race, while the two favorites, Upset Face (sired by Joke Face) with Lutfi Kolgjini and Axl Rose (sired by Love You) with Alessandro Gocciadoro, fought intensely for the lead.

With a half-mile to go Aetos Kronos still had a lot to do, but he was flying in the last quarter (timed in :27.1) and won easily in 1:55.3f (mile rate), followed by Acciaio (sired by Love You) with Ôrjan Kihlström. A brave Axl Rose, who was parked outside Upset Face most of the trip, finished third.

The Hakan Wallner Memorial was also the final in the Breeders Course series and carried a purse for the winner of $105,000.

This was the first Group 1 winner in Sweden for Bold Eagle. His Swedish crop of 2016 is at 29 foals and six of them have raced.

In France, his 2016 crop is at 84 and 50 have qualified. The filly Green Grass is the best of her sex in France and has earnings of $320,000. She has raced 12 times and has won seven races.

The dam of Aetos Kronos is Will Of A Woman (she by Muscles Yankee), who took a mark of 1:58.1 and earned $23,446. Aetos Kronos is her second foal and so far the best one. The granddam of Will Of A Woman is Conch, the dam of King Conch and Viking Kronos.
