Fraserville, ON — This past Saturday (Aug. 12) at Kawartha Downs one of the track’s leading drivers, Nick Boyd, wore a Go Pro during the evening’s fifth race when he was driving the veteran pacing mare Royal Engagement.

Here is Nick Boyd’s view through the GoPro camera.
He filmed the race, which they won in an exciting finish, as well as his trip along the fence in front of the great crowd at the Fraserville oval where he greeted race fans and thanked them for coming out.
“The GoPro was a Christmas gift. I’m not into extreme sports which you generally see them used for. I talked to a few people about how it could be a neat tool for trainers to use,” explained Boyd.
“I gave it a go this past Saturday and it turned out far better then I could have imagined. Most drivers wear the camera on their helmets or on the shaft looking back towards the driver. I bought the attachment so the GoPro could sit in the center of my chest and give a little bit different perspective. My intention is to wear it again this week in a race or two.”
Boyd will have several opportunities to try it this Saturday night as he has five drives on the eight race program including a 2-year-old Art Major filly he’s training who is making her first lifetime start in race two.
