Anderson, IN — Fiftydallarbill, the 2017 Breeders Crown 2-year-old trotting colt champion, looked to pick up right where he left off as he made his sophomore debut a winning one at Hoosier Park Racing & Casino on Thursday (May 24). With regular pilot Trace Tetrick in the bike, Fiftydallarbill cruised to an impressive, open length victory in his $20,000 Indiana Sires Stakes elimination for 3-year-old trotting colts and geldings, scoring in a new lifetime best of 1:54.
Leaving from post seven, Tetrick eased Fiftydallarbill off the gate to settle along the rail in fourth through the opening panel in :27.2. Fiftydallarbill was given the green light down the backside and he quickly grabbed command just past the half in :56.4. Reaching the third station in 1:25.4, Fiftydallarbill began to put his talent on display and trotted away from the rest of the field. Using a :28.1 final panel, the William Crone trainee coasted to a six length victory over Wham Bam Guccio and LeWayne Miller.
The 3-year-old son of Swan For All-CR Dixie Chick has now won eight of 18 lifetime outings while amassing $468,950 for owner John Barnard. With the win, Fiftydallarbill earned a spot in the first of five $75,000 Indiana Sires Stakes finals slated for May 31 at Hoosier Park.
“We’ve staked him to a few things this season,” Barnard noted after the victory. “We’ll see how he does next week but we basically mapped out a schedule around his stakes schedule here in Indiana.
“He’s got a few things in Canada and also at Pocono. The competition is tough enough here and we will see how it goes week by week. He’s been in Indiana all winter and seems to have come back well.”
Barnard also scored with Admiral Dewey in an earlier split of the stakes action. The 3-year-old gelded son of Elegant Man-Dewey Dally made his game winning move down the backside and went on to score in a new lifetime best of 1:56.1 with John DeLong in the bike. Unraced at two, Admiral Dewey is trained by William Crone and has now won four of six lifetime starts.
Indiana’s 2-year-old trotting colt of the year, All On Black, made his Hoosier Park debut a winning one as he captured the final elimination of the evening in 1:54.2. Driven by John DeLong, the son of Swan For All-Right On Renee staged a big rally late in the lane to remain undefeated in two starts this season. Trained by Jenny Melander, All On Black has now won eight of 10 lifetime outings and amassed $215,700 in lifetime purse earnings for owners Gabriella’s LLC and Melander Racing Inc.
The opening round of Indiana Sires Stakes highlighted Thursday’s 13-race card at Hoosier Park Racing & Casino. The stakes action will continue on Friday (May 25) with four $20,000 Indiana Sires Stakes eliminations for the 3-year-old pacing colts highlighting the 13-race card. First post is 6:30 p.m.
