Buckeye Stallion Series concludes Saturday at Northfield Park

Grove City, OH — Saturday (Oct. 6) will be a big night of racing for Ohio-bred horses with 12 races dedicated to them and purse totals of $560,000 between the Buckeye Stallion Series finals and the Ohio Sires Stake races for older Standardbreds. Northfield Park will host a variety of promotions and activities and the Ohio Harness Horsemen’s Association will be there with their Racing with The Stars tent, featuring a variety of prizes and fun.

The first eight races of the evening will be the Buckeye Stallion Series finals for 2- and 3-year-olds. These horses have raced in four legs of the series throughout the summer and earned points to be eligible to participate in this race.

In race one the 2-year-old filly trotters will begin the evening. Trained by Rosy Weaver, Supreme Lady (Knight Of Intrigue-Open The Case) won two legs of the Buckeye Stallion Series as well as four Ohio Fair Stakes this summer and has earnings of $34,632. Fingerinthefrostin (Stormin Normand-Action On Lavec), trained by Dan Noble, has one BSS win as well as two Ohio Fair Stakes. Both fillies won their division in the last leg at the Delaware County Fair.

Precious Diamond (Wishing Stone-Lindy’s Top Model), trained by Christopher Beaver and Ilianora (Broadway Hall-Nessa Rose), trained by Jason Hanna, each won their division of BSS at the Lake County Fair and have Ohio Fair Stakes wins.

Brian Roebuck trains Don’t Forget Muscle (Dontyouforgetit-On The Muscle) who has five Ohio Fair Stakes wins. She had 13 starts this summer with 11 finishing in the top three.

The 2-year-old filly pacers will start in race two. Atlantic Star (Cheyenne Rei-Atlantic Filly), trained by Sandra Hennessey, won two legs of the BSS as well as five Ohio Fair Stakes. Nine of her ten starts she finished in the top three, earning $31,071.

Ambitious Lillian (Big Bad John-Life’s Highway) has a BSS win and six Ohio Fair Stake wins. Eleven of her 13 starts she finished in the top three and has $32,252 in earnings. She is trained by Bruce Farguhar. Steve Carter trains Cookies Empire (Pet Rock-La Diavla) who won two divisions of the BSS, six Ohio Fair Stakes and finished in the top three 11 of her 12 starts, earning her $31,880.

The 2-year-old colt trotters will be in race three. Stars An Stones (Wishing Stone-A Star For Sidney), trained by Sophie Desroches, won a leg of the BSS and five Ohio Fair Stakes. In 12 of his 14 starts he finished in the top three, earning $27,671. Voyage To Paris (Dontyouforgetit-Paris Hall), trained by Jim Pollack Jr., has won two legs of the BSS.

Buckeyeonbroadway (Dejarmbro-Dream On Broadway), trained by Jeff Edwards, has three BSS wins. He also won in the Ohio State Fair Stakes, a leg of the Ohio Sires Stakes and one Ohio Fair Stakes. He has four Kentucky Sires Stakes wins.

The 2-year-old colt pacers are in race four. Yankee Boots (Yankee Cruiser-Boots N Saddle), trained by Steve Carter, won three BSS legs, five Ohio Fair Stakes and has earnings of $73,010.

Rockette Baby (Big Bad John-O Narutac Rockette), trained by Ron Steck and Van Diesel (Dragon Again-Mayan Moose), trained by Doug Hinklin, both won a leg of the BSS and three Ohio Fair Stakes.

Race five is for 3-year-old filly trotters. Infrontandforgetit (Dontyouforgetit-Front End Rate), trained by Jim Arledge Jr., and Kellie’s MVP (My MVP-Adriana Hanover), trained by Ray Paver, both have two BSS wins. Infrontandforgetit has an Ohio Fair Stakes win, and finished in the top three 10 of her 14 starts and earned $42,758.

This Year’s Best (My MVP-Under My Thumb), trained by John Ryan Melsheimer, won 10 Ohio Fair Stakes. Bugs MVP (My MVP-Char Catie Becca), trained by Christopher Beaver, won a leg of the BSS and has six Ohio Fair Stakes.

The 3-year-old filly pacers will be in race six. Velocity Mcsweets (McArdle-Playful Sweetheart), trained by Steve Carter and Our Miss Reese (Art Official-Brianna Joy), trained by Hugh Beatty, both won two legs of the BSS. Velocity Mcsweets has an Ohio Sires Stakes and Ohio Fair Stakes win and earnings of $67,000. Osborne’s Ellie (Big Bad John-Docdor Cam), trained by Eric Hamlet, has a BSS win and four Ohio Fair Stakes wins.

Jeffery P (Full Count-Betty Jean), In My Dreams (Winning Fireworks-I Am Spikes Wish) and High Definition As (Dejarmbro-High Musclemass) are two-time BSS winners this summer and will be racing in the 3-year-old colt trot division in race seven. Jeffery P is trained by Miles Wollam. His earnings are $44,318. In My Dreams is trained by Brady Galliers and High Definition As is trained by Jessica Millner.

The final Buckeye Stallion Series race of the evening will be the 3-year-old colt pacers in race eight. Yankee Osborne (Yankee Cruiser-Osborne’s Gypsy) and Cass Delight Rock (Pet Rock-Amber Delight) both won one BSS race this summer. Yankee Osborne is trained by Eric Hamlet and has earnings of $48,138. Cass Delight Rock, trained by Bret Schwartz, has six Ohio Fair Stakes wins.

Dancin Dragon (Dragon Again-McDance Desire), trained by Jim Arledge Jr., has three BSS wins and Medoland Brutus (Art Official-Jodie Lynn Tup), trained by Kayne Kauffman, has won two BSS races.
