Grove City, OH — The Buckeye Stallion Series kicks off this weekend with the 3-year-old colts at Miami Valley Raceway on Saturday (May 5), with six divisions of pacing colts and five divisions of trotters.
Two of the colts, Rising MVP and Bus Ninethirtysix, competing on Saturday were 2017 Buckeye Stallion Series $40,000 final winners as 2-year-olds.
Trotting colt Rising MVP (My MVP-Nutmegs Winner), trained by William Daugherty Jr. and owned by Susan Daugherty, will compete in race four with his first start of the year. Rising MVP was also an Ohio Fairs Championship winner in 2017.
Pacing gelding Bus Ninethirtysix (Mcardle-Otherpeoplesmoney) will compete in race 12. Bus Ninethirtysix is trained by Brian Brown and owned by Gabe Prewitt.
On Monday (May 7) the fillies will compete with four divisions of 3-year-old pacing fillies and three divisions of trotting fillies.
Bugs MVP (My MVP-Char Catie Becca), the 2017 Buckeye Stallion Series $40,000 final 2-year-old trotting filly winner will be back in race six. Bugs MVP is trained by Christopher Beaver. She is owned by Michael Carter, Johanna Beaver, Joe Sbrocco and Steven Zeehandelar.
The Buckeye Stallion Series will consist of four legs this year racing at Miami Valley Raceway, Eldorado Scioto Downs, Champaign County Fair, Lake County Fair, Delaware County Fair, plus the final will be held at Hard Rock Rocksino Northfield Park on Oct. 6. The number of nominations for the 2018 Buckeye Stallion Series is up 14.3 percent over 2017.
