Briarcliff Manor, NY – Both racehorses and breeding’s for the current season were popular attractions at the Monday (May 9) Preferred Equine Online Mixed Sale.

Leading the way in racehorse sales at $134,000 was the 4-year-old stakes winning son of Sunshine Beach, Cadillac Bayama p,3,1:52, who in the past two weeks finished second in both of his starts in the upper classes at Woodbine, timed in 1:50.3 and 1:50.2.

He was consigned by PEO as agent for Les Ecuries S. Filion Inc. and purchased by Sylvain Descheneaux’s Ecurie CSL.

Cadillac Bayama’s price tag made him the sixth $100,000-plus seller in Preferred Equine Online’s first six biweekly mixed sales.

Other top-selling racehorses in the May 9 auction produced solid prices of $54,000, $46,000 and $42,000.

As the breeding season moves nearer to its conclusion, 2022 breeding’s to stallions whose books are full and closed were also sought after. The top lots were breedings to a pair of Hanover stallions in Greenshoe and Papi Rob Hanover that sold for $20,000 and $16,000, respectively.

“At this point, I think our online sales are beyond gaining traction; they’ve become fixtures in the commercial marketplace,” said manager David Reid. “Every sale to date has featured quality racehorses that have not only sold well, but that have continued to race successfully for their buyers.”

“People who sell and buy here know they’re dealing with a long-established company that prides itself on integrity and customer service,” Reid said. “Those company hallmarks, along with our modern, easy to use online platform, are why customers are selling good horses here.”

At the just concluded sale 25 of 29 hips were sold for a gross of $576,100 and a racehorse average of $26,375.

Preferred Equine Online’s next mixed sale is scheduled for May 23, and according to Reid, it’s the perfect time to sell quality racehorses at a premium as the summer meets swing into high gear.
