Catch The Fire retired to stud duty in Ohio

Delaware, OH — After pulling “double duty” for two years with racing and breeding, Catch The Fire has officially been retired from racing to stand as a stallion at Sugar Valley Farms in Delaware, Ohio.

After receiving over 200 applications from mares in 2022, Catch The Fire bred a full book and returned to the races to set the track record at the Meadowlands in 1:46.4 in winning the Sam McKee Memorial.

Co-owner Greg Luther stated, “We brought him back this year because I knew he was faster than his previous 1:47 record, which he’d accomplished several times. He is now the fastest aged stallion to ever race at the Meadowlands and holds the track record for aged pacers going into 2023. We are already seeing a phenomenal group of mares applying to him again, and his book will be filled quickly.”

Catch The Fire stands at Sugar Valley Farms in Ohio for a stud fee of $6,000. To apply for a spot for the 2023 season, call 740.363.5618.
