In April, the USTA announced its renewed agreement with the United States Dressage Federation (USDF) as an All-Breeds Awards participating organization. With the show season in full swing, those that are showing Standardbreds in dressage may be eligible for even more awards through USDF and the USTA.

Shotgun Rider repeats as High Mileage Standardbred
Shotgun Rider, a.k.a. Owyhee Shotgun Rider in endurance circles, is the third repeat High Mileage Standardbred since the USTA started recognizing the award in 2011. Merri Melde, Shotgun Rider’s partner and owner, was recognized this past weekend at the American Endurance Ride Conference convention at the Nugget Casino Resort in Sparks, Nevada.

The U.S. Trotting Association announced Monday (June 28) the creation of a Standardbred Incentive Program (SIP) for horses registered in North America. The program will recognize horses who are participating in disciplines other than racing and provide awards for leading contestants.
USTA joins Right Horse Initiative
The USTA has joined forces with The Right Horse Initiative (TRH). This collective of equine industry and welfare professionals and advocates, a program of the ASPCA, works together to improve the lives of horses in transition and increase horse adoption in the United States.

Standardbreds to participate in the 18th annual Horse World Expo
A group of retired Standardbreds will be participating in the 18th annual Horse World Expo on Thursday (Feb. 27) through Sunday (March 1) at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg.
