East Rutherford, NJ — The Meadowlands has several important stakes schedule changes to announce for the near term.
The first leg of the New Jersey Sires Stakes for 2-year-old pacers has been moved back one day from Saturday (June 28) to Friday (June 27) and will be raced the same night as the NJSS trots. This move is for the first leg of the stakes only.
As a result of that move, the Meadowlands will offer 2-year-old races on both Friday (for New Jersey sired 2-year-olds) and Saturday (for non-New Jersey bred 2-year-olds) next week (June 20 and 21) to avoid the NJSS 2-year-olds having to race back in six days. The draw for both days of 2-year-old races will be done on Tuesday (June 17) with the box closing at 9 a.m.
Qualifiers will be raced on Friday morning only and will be drawn on Tuesday with a box close of 9 a.m. as well.
Another important change involves the third leg of the Miss Versatility Series raced at the Meadowlands. That race is being moved from Friday (July 11) to Saturday (July 12). This move is a result of the older trotting mares coming up so strong this season and using the race to enhance an already powerful Meadowlands Pace card.
