Christina Johnson wins GLADA Trot at Northfield

Northfield, OH — Christina Johnson won Sunday’s (Aug. 28) $8,000 Great Lakes Amateur Drivers Association Trot at MGM Northfield Park with Go Go George in 1:58, marking her sixth win this season in 19 drives.

Johnson’s victory came with patience when she settled Go Go George in the two-hole behind Dynamic Edge (driven by Don Sherman) to follow fractions of :27.3 and :58.4 before Swan On A Mission (Eddie Miller) challenged for the lead. At the three-quarters in 1:28.2, Dynamic Edge still had the lead, albeit by just three-quarters of a length. Johnson continued to wait with Go Go George until the passing lane, where she sent the 8-year-old Neely Dunn gelding to challenge for command. At the wire, Go Go George was a neck better Swan On A Mission. So Wishfull (Larry Ferrari) got up for third as Dynamic Edge faded and finished fourth.

John Capriotti trains Go Go George, who paid $4.20 to win, for owner Kiesha Ferrari. As for Johnson, in addition to her six driving wins this season, she also has four second-place finishes and four third-place finishes, good for a whopping seasonal Universal Driver Rating of .525.
