Balmoral Park Pick-4, Races 10-13, Saturday, August 6, 2011
We only had two seconds on last Saturday’s ticket, just before the closest and most heartbreaking attempt the following day. See Sunday’s picks for that story. This Saturday we like our choices, starting off with two strong singles that can deliver some decent prices and ending with two pair that can add to a healthy payoff.
$1 play: 5/7/45/49 = $4
Race 10: (5) Lazy Lizard returns from hiatus after well-supported efforts in this class. The rest should have helped and the post here is marvelous for the comeback.
Race 11: (7) Lost One was a strong choice and hung so badly that he faded when he needed his best. He could come right back with a top effort in this group.
Race 12: (4) Bell Valley Bill pulled off a great win and steps up bravely while in tip-top shape. (5) Drunken Frenchman is best at this level. He was the top choice at Indiana Downs, failed, and returns to his favorite oval.
Race 13: (4) Kolander put in a big effort with early foot last out but burned out. In the race before that he brushed big and broke three back. He is best at this level, in the open $4,000 tag pack. (9) Allamerican Solo is always game, if rarely winning, but can be extra dangerous from the outside.
