Cumberland, ME — The Cumberland Fair has some very special horsemen and women, as they raised more than $10,000 for John Beckwith, who had serious injuries when he was in an accident returning from the races.
If you ask anyone in Maine harness racing the response would be “he is one of the nicest men involved in racing in our state.” He is a blacksmith, owner, trainer and driver. We all wish him a speedy recovery.
The Davis Stable of Janet, Eddie and Eric, who are stabled here in Maine, demonstrated that extending a helping hand to a fellow horseman will help John recover.
There are too many more to list, so we just say thank you to all.
Janet had help from the Maine Harness Horsemen’s Association, much help from horsemen and women from all over our state and out of state. Hats off to everyone who helped and donated.
Many times the negative spreads but this time Maine and Delaware owners, trainers, grooms, officials and friends helped a friend.
Get well soon John. You are admired and loved by many. Mike Timmons, President Cumberland Fair, speaking for all.
