Dan Patch author to visit Illinois State Fair

Freehold, NJ — As part of Illinois State Fair festivities in Springfield, Charles Leerhsen, author of a book about the most famous Illinois-bred horse ever, will present and sign his book inside the grandstand on Saturday, August 9, from 12:00 noon to 3:00 p.m.

Leerhsen is the author of Crazy Good: The True Story of Dan Patch, the Most Famous Horse in America, about the top pop culture figure of 100 years ago, the horse named Dan Patch. Dan Patch was bred in Chebanse, Illinois, a son of Joe Patchen. The book will sell for $20 and proceeds benefit programs to teach children about horses.

Leerhsen is executive editor of Sports Illustrated magazine and worked as a harness racing publicist for the U.S. Trotting Association several decades ago.

Crazy Good has been the best-selling book about horses on Amazon.com since its release on May 20 and has been positively reviewed in the Wall Street Journal, Entertainment Weekly, Newsweek and USA Today.
