Dover, DE — Sal DiMario, Executive Director of the Delaware Standardbred Owners Association (DSOA) is retiring Nov. 1.

DiMario started his tenure at the DSOA in June of 1997.

“I have enjoyed my time at DSOA serving the horsemen and women of the First State these past 27 years,” said DiMario. “It has been a pleasure to work with the many directors, who served on the board during that time.”

DiMario believes that Delaware, as the first state to get the video lottery terminals, became the standard for the industry, developing the agrarian model joining harness racing with casino gaming.

“I look back over my time here and believe that DSOA maximized our opportunities and today Delaware has a thriving racing and breeding industry supported with revenues from the video lottery, table games and sports wagering in the state,” DiMario added. “We have had governors and members of the general assembly who valued and understood the economic benefits of racing on the state’s agri-business economy.”
