Trois-Rivieres, PQ — The Hippodrome 3R’s leading driver in 2014 and currently in 2015, Denis St. Pierre, is now just two wins away from scoring his 4,000th career victory.
St. Pierre had one win at the Hippodrome 3R on Wednesday afternoon (June 24). His lone win at 3R Wednesday came in the fourth race pace with Windows Online ($3.20) in 1:58.3.
St. Pierre is scheduled to drive in five races at Rideau Carleton Raceway on Thursday evening.
Wednesday’s special afternoon card was in honor of St. Jean Baptiste Day, a national holiday in Quebec.
Latin America, the winningest horse at the Hippodrome 3R this season, did not fare well in her bid to win her fifth straight race. She went off-stride as the overwhelming 1-5 favorite from post two and never recovered for driver Stephane Brosseau.
In the race it was Erge Pink Lady and driver Jocelyn Gendron who took full advantage of the new slanted starting gate, leaving from post six and overpowering the field, winning in a romp by 8-1/4 lengths for her maiden victory in 2:04.4. De Pres Mirabel (Rosaire Renaud) was second with Center Pointe (Sylvain Grenier) third.
Trained by Eric Posson, Erge Pink Lady paid $63.00 to win.
Live racing resumes at the Hippodrome 3R on Sunday with first race post time at 1:30 p.m. For more information visit www.quebecjockeyclub.com.
