Dorsoduro Hanover rolls late, wins Meadows feature

Washington, PA — Double millionaire Dorsoduro Hanover moved three wide into the final turn and rolled home to capture Friday’s (May 27) $17,600 Open Handicap Pace at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows.

Double millionaire Dorsoduro Hanover won the $17,600 feature at The Meadows in 1:50.4. Chris Gooden Photo.

The 3-5 favorite took a seat fifth early before following the live cover of Carolina Beach (Wilbur Yoder) down the backside. When Ronnie Wrenn, Jr. asked him for pace, he found another gear and triumphed in 1:50.4, 1-1/4 lengths better than 24-1 long shot Captain Fabulous (Brady Brown). Roll Em (Dave Palone) rallied for show.

Ron Burke trains the 7-year-old Somebeachsomewhere-Deer Valley Miss gelding, who now boasts a bankroll of $2,019,935, for Burke Racing Stable, J&T Silva-Purnel & Libby, Weaver Bruscemi LLC and Wingfield Five LLC.

Palone piloted four winners on the 13-race card while Wrenn and Burke each enjoyed a triple.

The Meadows will not offer a live card Saturday, as the track is hosting the Greater Pittsburgh Food Truck Festival. Live racing resumes Wednesday when the program features a pair of carryovers — $17,554.38 in the final-race Super Hi-5, $7,968.65 in the Jackpot Pick 5 (race 4). First post is 12:45 p.m.
