Harrington, DE — Many of the top Delaware sired 2-year-old horses were showcased Wednesday (Oct. 3) at Harrington Raceway as four $100,000 Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund (DSBF) events highlighted a 15-race program.

Just As Striking upsets the male trotting final.

The first final was for male pacers as Jo Ann Looney-King’s Chillaxin Away ($2.20, Victor Kirby) was a commanding 1:53.4 winner over Dashiki and Keepmywiglegametyt. The Roddy’s Bags Again-Shake Away gelding recorded his second career win in a lifetime best via a wire-to-wire by open lengths. Trained by Jim King Jr., it was his second win in five lifetime starts.

A major upset occurred in the male trotting final when previously unbeaten Embrace The Grind made a break at the start and E&K Stable, Earl and Lois Walters and Paul Williamson’s Just As Striking ($55.60, Eddie Dennis) capitalized and was able to cruise to a 2:01.4 win over Say Geseundheit and Rich N Royal. A son of Anders Bluestone-Ringside Katie, it was the first career win for Just As Striking, who is trained by his driver.

George Teague and K&R Racing’s The Lady Sheriff ($2.60, Montrell Teague) won the filly pacing final in a new lifetime best of 1:55.2. The homebred (Southwind Lynx-Sheriff Sale) was aggressive from post position two and never relented in her front end win over Vistamista and Roddy’s At It Again.

A minor upset was sprung in the filly trotting final as Rod Allen’s Disco Soliel ($21.40, Allen) was a 2:01.4 winner. The Cr Commando-Cr Penny Lane filly held off Cierra’s Choice and Dark Dutchess for her first career win in her second lifetime start. She is trained by her owner/driver.

Three $15,000 consolation events were also held for DSBF horses. Carolina Shag ($3.60, Mike Cole) won the filly pace for owner Forrest Bartlett and trainer Kevin Lare. Breakaway Racing’s Gettinziggywitit ($3.40, Corey Callahan) prevailed in the trotting consolation for trainer Nick Callahan. Tim Hundertpfund’s Awiggleandagiggle ($7.20, Allan Davis) won the male pace consolation for trainer Joe Hunderptfund.

Cole had four winners on the card, while Montrell Teague had three.
