Gelormini took command after the first quarter and stayed on to win easily by two lengths, followed by the Swedish race favorite San Moteur with Björn Goop and fellow Frenchman Go On Boy with Romain Derieux, who dead heated for second.

The win time equaled the race record held by Don Fanucci Zet, who won the race in 2021.

Hohneck is sired by Royal Dream and out of a mare sired by Ready Cash; both Royal Dream and Ready Cash won the Prix d’Amerique.

The purse for the winner was a record $460,000.

Etonnant and San Moteur capture first heat eliminations

Both Dexter Dunn and Ake Svanstedt qualified their trotters to race in the final in the Elitlopp.

Dunn enjoyed a pocket trip with Norwegian-trained Stoletheshow, who was close to finishing third, but had to settle for fourth in a heat where Etonnant with Anthony Barrier was an impressive winner after being parked out most of the trip. Second was Go On Boy; third was Ônas Prince with Per Nordström of Sweden, who was leading the way from the start. Etonnant was timed in 1:52f.

The second heat was won by the favorite, Sweden’s San Moteur with Goop, who came from behind to win in 1:51.1f. Svanstedt with Hail Mary was leading around the last corner, but Hail Mary tired down the stretch and finished fourth. Second was Hohneck, who just got the better of Italy’s Vivid Wise As with Matthieu Abrivard.

On the undercard

Another French trotter, the 4-year-old mare Jazzy Perrine (sired by Django Riff), trained by Tomas Malmqvist and with Goop in the bike won an elite-race for 4-year-old mares in a new European record of 1:51f, followed five lengths back by Joviality S with Erik Adielsson.

A North American ex-pat, Double Deceiver with Ôrjan Kihlström, won the elite-race for 4-year old males in 1:52.3f by a half-length, beating Gio Cash with Dion Tesselaar and B A Superhero with Bo Westergaard.
