Eddie Miller wins GLADA trot at Northfield

Northfield, OH — Eddie Miller and Bold Strategy made a laugher out of the $7,500 GLADA trot Sunday night (May 22) at Northfield Park when they wired the field and cruised to an easy nine-length victory in 1:55.3.

Sent off as the 2-5 favorite in the eight-horse field, Bold Strategy returned $2.80 for the win.

When the wings of the mobile gate folded Miller sent the Break The Bank K 5-year-old gelding to the front from the pole position and they led a parked-out Forever Jesse (Floyd Rhodes) by the quarter in :27.4. But Bold Strategy was too much for his competition and he opened three lengths on the field as he passed the half in :56.1.

At the three-quarters in 1:24.3, the lead was opened to eight lengths and when they rounded the final turn Lauren Harmon and Emerald Chip had overtaken Forever Jesse and were in second place.

But there was no catching Bold Strategy as he zipped home a winner in 1:55.3. Emerald Chip was second best and So Wishfull (Larry Ferrari) rallied to garner the show dough.

The winner is owned by Rebecca Sugg, Watson Harness Racing, and Mary Stucky and trained by Eddie Miller.
