Eddie Miller wins GLADA trot with Cowboy Country

Northfield, OH — Eddie Miller took no prisoners and went down the road with Cowboy Country to win the $8,000 Great Lakes Amateur Driving Association trot in 1:57.3 on Sunday (Aug. 7) at MGM Northfield Park.

Miller hustled the Break The Bank K gelding to the lead from the pole position, and they had command before the :28.2 quarter mile. Cowboy Country cruised by the halfway point in :59.3 with Fulton’s Fury (Don Sherman) snuggled in second position. Up the backside, the order remained the same as Lauren Harmon moved Emerald Chip off the pylons and out to challenge. But that challenge was short-lived, as Cowboy Country was still strong by three-quarters in 1:29.1 before kicking home in a :28.2 final stanza and winning by 2-1/4 lengths. Fulton’s Fury finished second; Justice Reigns was third for Melvin Miller.

Cowboy Country is owned by Rebecca Sugg and Steven Maas, and is also trained by Eddie Miller. Sent off as the odds-on favorite in the seven horse field, Cowboy Country paid $2.80 to win.
