Even field set for Winners Over Pace at Rosecroft

Ft. Washington, MD — A well-matched field of seven filly and mare pacers will face the starter in the $6,000 Winners Over Pace at Rosecroft Raceway on Saturday (Feb. 17), with Scarlet Brocade set as the 5-2 morning line choice from post position seven.

The 10-year-old Big Towner mare proved victorious in last week’s edition of the pace through a first-over trip with driver Wayne Long at her lines. Owned by Joan Gannon and Franklin Gannon, Jr., Scarlet Brocade paced in 1:54.3 to top the field by over three lengths. Trainer Franklin Gannon III has again named Long to drive.

Drivin’ Miss Rudee, second choice on the board at 7-2 odds, finished second against similar on February 3 after cutting the mile. The 5-year-old Walton Hanover mare, trained by John Sumner, paced through quarters of :27.3, :58.4 and 1:27.4 only to succumb at the wire to Paradusho N by a neck. Co-owned by William Camp, Jr. and John Sumner, the mare will be driven by Donnie Russell.

The remainder of the field is just as competitive. Gorgeous Lover (John Wagner, 5-1), Twin B Scamper (Corey Braden, 6-1), Adelias Girl (Timmy Offutt, 8-1), Blissfully High (Brian Burton, 4-1) and GH Shady Lady (Frank Milby, 5-1) round out the field.

Post time for the 11-race card is 7:20 p.m.
