Pompano Beach, Florida – Evil Jenna puts her two-race win streak on the line at Pompano Park Friday as she takes on six stellar rivals in the 7th race Fillies and Mares Open Handicap Pace.
Starting from post seven, Evil Jenna will be driven by Andy Santeramo. In her last two wins she has led from start to finish, last week winning in 1:54 for owners Luca and Ester Balenzano of Pompano Beach.
A six-year-old mare by Jenna’s Beach Boy from the Albatross mare, Satan’s Mistress, Evil Jenna is trained by Paul Appel and is being driven by Santeramo for the first time. The prior week she won by three and one-half lengths 1:55 and goes off Friday as an 8-1 long shot despite being the lone return winner in the field.
The 8/5 overwhelming favorite is Hyde Park Hussie N from the rail for driver Anthony Napolitano. A ten-race winner in 2004, Hyde Park Hussie N has been competing in the Mares Open all season long. Despite being winless in 2005 after four starts, she does have three second place finishes for the Deuschie Racing Partners of Wellington.
Other contenders in the field include S F Misty (post 2) and newcomers Jus’ Chillin Out (post 4) and Pownal (post 5). Completing the field are Pleasing Package A (post 3) and ICU N (post 6).
