Van Wert, OH — The Van Wert County Fair at Van Wert, Ohio, wrapped up its two-day harness racing meet with a nine-race program on Friday night (September 2). Signature Series races were featured along with the Ohio Fairs Fund filly stakes and three overnight races.
Mark Headworth piloted Trottin Brooke (Pegasus Spur-Bueno Sahbra) to victory in the 3-year-old filly trot. Gary Gilliland is the filly’s owner-trainer. Trottin Brooke circled the Van Wert oval in 2:05.2.
Shakinmymonimaker (Feelin Friskie-Laughing Icon) took the 2-year-old filly pace in 2:11.3. Mandy Jones is the owner of Shakinmymonimaker with Brian Jones doing the training and Tyler Rush doing the driving.
Trainer-driver Dave Brumbaugh steered Tesla (Jailhouse Jesse-Linda In Love) to a win in the 2-year-old filly trot. Myron Brown and Beth Simons pay the bills on Tesla, who trotted her mile in 2:09.1.
Pretty Blue Eyes (Yankee Cruiser-Eyes Of A Tigress) captured the 3-year-old filly pace in 2:01.2. Jim Mulinix trains the filly for Miller’s Stable, Inc. Mark Headworth picked up the winning catch-drive on Pretty Blue Eyes.
Owner-trainer-driver Kim Pluta brought Rompaway Yum Yum home first in the Signature Series Trot. The 8-year-old mare took 2:02 to complete her mile.
The connections of Miller’s Stable, Inc., Jim Mulinix, and Mark Headworth picked up another win with Just Crowned in the Signature Series Pace. Just Crowned’s 1:57.2 mile was a new track record for 4-year-old gelding pacers.
Racing in the Northwestern Ohio Colt Racing Association now shifts to the Fulton County Fair at Wauseon. The action begins there Saturday afternoon (September 3) with a 12:30 p.m. post time.
