Anderson, IN — Hoosier Park Racing and Casino, in its 24th season of live harness racing, will kick start summer weekends with a mix of family fun promotions, entertainment and live harness racing beginning Saturday (June 10) and continuing each weekend through the end of the racing season.
In a continued effort to enhance the on-track racing experience to harness racing fans of all ages, Hoosier Park Racing and Casino is proud to bring back a new and improved Family Fun Zone on Saturday nights during the live harness racing season. Activities will include inflatable games, face painting, live entertainment, contests and winner’s circle giveaways. As always, the official Hoosier Park mascot, Hoosier Buddy, will be on hand to entertain.
“I’m very excited for the upcoming events we have planned,” said Rick Moore, Hoosier Park’s vice president and general manager of racing. “At Hoosier Park, we pride ourselves in the fact that we bring guests the best products we can offer. With all the excitement and entertainment, there is something for everyone in our action packed family fun weekends.”
Rain or shine, the Family Fun Zone will be available for the younger harness racing fans beginning at 6 p.m. each Saturday night. Families can also use this as an opportunity to turn a trip to Hoosier Park into a fun destination spot.
Along with updated menu items in both of the Homestretch restaurants, Hoosier Park has additional dining options in the lower level of the Grandstand. Dog n Suds is an American, Midwest classic famous for their Coney dogs, burgers and root beer floats and will be open on Fridays and Saturdays throughout live racing. Additionally, The Shoe will continue to feature light snacks, soft drinks and a full assortment of beers, wines and liquors.
Fridays at Hoosier Park, dubbed “Fan-tastic Fridays”, will once again feature $1 live racing programs, $1 bets, $2 beers, and $2 hot dogs and starting at 6 p.m. In addition, guests will be welcomed to enter the ‘Beat the Big Guy’ handicapping contest for a chance to win up to $750.
Legendary KISS front man Gene Simmons will kick-off Hoosier Park Racing & Casino’s Sounds of Summer outdoor concert series presented by Bud Light on Friday (June 9). The summer concert lineup will continue on Saturday (July 1) with Motown legends The Temptations and The Four Tops. And, country star Billy Currington will take the outdoor stage on Friday (July 21). On each of the concert nights live racing will start at an adjusted post time of 4:30 p.m. All concerts will start at 9 p.m. and will take place on Hoosier Park’s outdoor music center stage, which accommodates up to 4,500 reserved ticket seats.
Live racing at Hoosier Park will follow a Tuesday through Saturday schedule and be conducted through November 17. The season is highlighted by the 34th edition of the Breeders Crown, harness racing’s championship event valued at $6 million, on Friday (Oct. 27) and Saturday (Oct. 28).
