Ft. Washington, MD — Russell Foster got a stiff test from Frank Milby on the final night (Dec. 23) of the Rosecroft Fall meet.
Foster led Milby by four heading into Saturday’s final 13-race card and Milby won three races on the night. Foster, however, won three himself, including the $10,000 Open Handicap, with his own Kiss A Dragon in 1:50.4 on a track rated “good.”
Foster left from post eight and dropped in fifth, while pacesetter Rocktavious cut the fractions. In the final turn Kiss A Dragon rolled by to win by seven lengths. Rocktavious (Jonathan Roberts) held for second, while 50-1 shot Spinout (Roger Plante) finished third.
It was the third consecutive driving title for Foster dating back to last Fall.
Jason Green rallied favorite KG Rocks from ninth and last after the half for the win by a neck in the $10,000 Mares Open Handicap. Hearts And Flowers (John Wagner) was second, and Little Sandyloam (Foster) was third.
Foster and Milby starred with three wins, Wagner and Roberts each had two.
Trainer Ken Schlotzhauer scored the training title with 20 wins on the meet, including the final race of 2017 with Jereme’s General for driver Allan Davis.
Rosecroft reopens Feb. 18.
