Chester, PA — Harrah’s Chester hosted four $200,000 Pennsylvania Sire Stakes finals on Monday afternoon (September 5).
In the final for 3-year-old colt and gelding pacers, Big Bad John took advantage of a pocket trip to score in a time of 1:49.4. David Miller was in the bike for trainer Ron Potter as the son of Western Hanover-Trulyawork Of Art scored by 1-3/4 lengths over pacesetting Hugadragon (Yannick Gingras). Mystic Desire was third for driver Tim Tetrick.
Big Bad John is owned by Winchester Baye Acres Inc. and paid $3.40 to win as the public’s choice.
The 3-year-old colt and gelding trot final was almost a duplicate of the pace as Opening Night sat in the pocket for the mile, then shook loose in the stretch to hit the wire first in 1:54.4. John Campbell drove for his brother Jim as the Broadway Hall-Rare Elegance colt scored by 1-1/4 lengths over Big Rigs (Tim Tetrick), who cut the fractions. Magnum Kosmos and Dave Palone were third throughout the mile.
Opening Night is owned by Runthetable Stables and paid $14.20 to win.
The pattern of pocket trips leading to victory continued in the 3-year-old filly trot as Caitrin Hall and driver David Miller just got up at the wire to post a neck victory over front running Cedar Dove in 1:54.3. Action On George was third for Tim Tetrick.
Tony Alagna trains the daughter of Tom Ridge-CR Oh Suzanna for owner Patrick Graham. She posted a $10.80 win mutuel.
The PASS final for 3-year-old filly pacers saw Foxy Lady (Yannick Gingras) brush to the lead at the half-mile marker and draw off to a 2-1/4 length score over Mikayla Rose in a time of 1:51. Strike An Attitude and Dave Palone were third.
Ron Burke trains the Real Desire-Judy Is A Fox filly for Burke Racing Stable, Weaver Bruscemi LLC, JJK Stable and Phillip Collura. The overwhelming favorite returned a $3.20 win mutuel.
