Dover, DE — Four Staces, rounding into top form, meets the sharp Star Messenger in the Monday (Dec. 5) featured 10th race at Dover Downs.
Owned by Mike Casalino Jr. and his trainer Dylan Davis Four Staces, with Corey Callahan in the bike, came into his own late last meet. He now seems nearing peak condition again with a strong second in his last start on Nov. 21 over this very same oval. Four Staces will begin pacing from post position two and is 3-1 on the morning line.
Janet Hudson and JoAnn Looney-King’s Star Messenger is conditioned by Looney-King’s husband Jim. A winner of three of his last seven starts, he will start from post position six with Victor Kirby at the controls. Star Messenger is 2-1 in the early odds book.
Too Darn Hot was a close second last week for co-owner/trainer/driver Jason Lynch and Jim Jacobs and gets the rail in the field of eight. He is currently listed at 4-1.
Although starting from post eight, owner/trainer Kathleen Brewer’s Quick Shot spent much of his last start on the outside without cover, yet still missed winning by a mere length. He will be steered by Ross Wolfenden and is 10-1 on the morning line.
Bill Sartin and Mark Salerno’s Focus Power has an impressive record with top three finishes in 21 of 26 starts. Allan Davis will drive and Joseph Hundertpfund Jr. trains the horse. He leaves from post position three and is 6-1.
The other starters are R.J.Thomas’ Dash Point Hanover with Sean Bier (post four, 15-1), Gideon Stables’ Nuclear Dragon with Jonathan Roberts (post five, 8-1) and owner/trainer Brenda Teague’s homebred Fight The Truth with Montrell Teague (post seven, 12-1).
