The 6-year old French mare, Anna Mix, driven by Erik Adielsson, won the Axevalla Race at the Axevalla track in Sweden Saturday (July 23) afternoon in a new world record for older mares over 1-5/8 mile of 1.55.4f (mile rate).
Anna Mix, who is owned by French top trainer Franck Le Blanc and trained by Ake Svanstedt’s daughter-in-law Sofia Aronsson, has a very difficult temper and during the winter meeting at the Vincennes, she was banned from the races due to her unwillingness at the start. In France most races for the top class trotters are with standing starts, so Leblanc decided to send Anna Mix to Sweden, where most of the races for open class trotters are started behind the gate.
Adielsson soon had Anna Mix in command and stayed in front the rest of race to win by four lengths followed by the favorite, Call Me Keeper, driven by Ôrjan Kihlström.
The purse for the winner was $17,500.
At the Enghien track in Paris a Group III-race for 4- year old trotters over 1-3/4 mile was won by Dawana, driven by Gabriele Gelormini, in a new race record of 2.00.2 ( mile rate). The old record was from 2008 held by Return Money and was 2.01.4 (mile rate).
Dawana is sired by the sensational French stallion, Ready Cash and out of Sanawa, who was one of the best mares in her crop.
