Freshman pacers shine in Buckeye Stallion Series action

Grove City, OH — The Champagne County Fair in Urbana, Ohio. hosted the Buckeye Stallion Series on Tuesday night (Aug. 11) with 14 races, each with a purse of $17,500.

In the 2-year-old filly pace the track record was equaled twice. Heavenissofaraway with Dan Noble for owner-trainer Anette Lorentzon was a winner in 1:58.1. The Racing Hill filly is two for two in Buckeye Stallion Series action.

Later in the card Rockin The Blues was also a winner in 1:58.1 for Noble and trainer Christi Noble. Dr Jerry Maloon Stable owns the Pet Rock filly who was making her first appearance in BSS action.

The track record was established by Maavelous and Josh Sutton in 2016.

Smothastenesewisky with Chris Page made it three for three in the Buckeye Stallion Series, winning in 1:58.4 for owner/trainer Brian Haynes.

Other winners were Apple Soozy in 1:59.3 and Pompatuse Of Love in 1:58.4.

The 2-year-old colt pace had two winners with 1:56.1 performances.

Imagine It with Ryan Stahl for Kent Wilcox made it seven for eight on the season in a wire-to-wire win by four lengths. The If I Can Dream gelding is owned by Richard Copp and is a perfect three-for-three in BSS action.

Twig by Mr Apples was a winner in a nearly wire-to-wire performance by one length. The gelding was driven by Chris Page for trainer Mike Polhamus and owner Julie Farley. Twig is also a perfect three-for-three in BSS action.

Other winners were Feelin Western in 1:57.4, Pine Grove Racer in 1:58.4 and Rockinmyshoe in 1:59.

The 2-year-old filly trot was led by Elegant Gigi with Ryan Stahl and owner-trainer Rosy Weaver in 2:01.4. The Dejarmbro filly came home by seven lengths after being fifth at the half and moving first up.

Charming Nancy with Josh Sutton continued her perfection in the Buckeye Stallion Series. The Uncle Peter filly has won all three legs, winning this time in 2:04.1 for trainer Chris Beaver. The filly is owned by Beaver, Joe Sbrocco, Mary McLoughlin, and Michael Carter.

Other winners were Forceful Power in 2:03 and Forget The Past in 2:04.2.

All of the 2-year-old pacing races were sub-2:00 performances on the super Champagne County Fair track.

The drivers were led by Chris Page with four wins while Dan Noble and Ryan Stahl had three each.

The third leg of the 2-year-old colt trot will be held Wednesday (Aug. 12) at MGM Northfield Park.
