Washington, PA — The $200,000 championships of the Pennsylvania Fairs will be contested Friday (Oct. 11) on a special evening of racing that will see Hollywood Casino at The Meadows transformed into something approaching a county fair with fun activities for all.
The racing includes $25,000 championships in all eight divisions for 2- and 3-year-olds. Horses have earned points for the finals by competing in stakes at PA fairs throughout the summer. But exciting racing is not the only attraction Friday. Other events include:
- Annual Pink Out. The Meadows and The Meadows Standardbred Owners Association (MSOA) will present their eighth annual Pink Out to benefit cancer awareness, research and treatment. Fans who make donations to the American Cancer Society will be eligible to win raffle prizes from participating vendors.
- Corgi racing. Those lovable Welsh waggers will compete in three qualifying events following harness races 3, 4 and 5, with the final after Meadows race 7. Winning dogs will receive prizes from event partners. Also, in keeping with the Pink Out theme, one dog will be chosen “Pinkest Pup.”
- Family Fun Night. Activities include balloon and tattoo artists, a face painter and a bounce house. The Dan and Galla Musical Show takes place live on the apron, where fans also may enjoy fair-style food and beverages.
First post for the 13-race program — and kickoff for the other festivities — is 5:10 p.m.
