East Rutherford, NJ — Live racing returns to The Meadowlands on Friday night (April 27) with a 10-race card including twin features on the bill with $20,000 Preferred classes written for trotters in the sixth race and pacing mares in the seventh. The Preferred Handicap trot is populated by a pair of accomplished veterans getting a start in anticipation of the Arthur Cutler Memorial next Saturday (May 5).
Crazy Wow has faced the best his generation has offered from age two and has amassed over $2.2 million over the course of his distinguished racing career. Now six years of age, Crazy Wow had a good tightening qualifier a week ago and will start from the outside post eight for driver David Miller Ron Burke trains him for Our Horse Cents Stable, Stable 45, J&T Silva and Deo Volente Farms.
Mambo Lindy, on the other hand has been a late developer. The Lindy Farms-bred now racing under the Greathorse banner, did not make his first pari-mutuel start until age four and clearly his best season was 2017. At age six he collected $142,095 from 10 wins and acquitted himself well on those occasions when he faced the Grand Circuit types. Tim Tetrick drives Mambo Lindy for trainer Domenico Cecere on Friday.
The Preferred Handicap pace for mares is yet another stage for Blue Moon Stride and Darlinonthebeach to square off as they have done on many occasions over the past three seasons. Both Darlinonthebeach and Blue Moon Stride are inching in on millionaire status with the former just over $1,000 from that plateau and the latter not far behind.
Blue Moon Stride (Corey Callahan) has the post edge this time, leaving from the two-hole for trainer Mark Harder and owners Emilio and Maria Rosati. Darlinonthebeach, bred and owned by White Birch, leaves from post eight with David Miller doing the driving for new trainer Richard “Nifty” Norman.
There is plenty of action in the building with the usual array of guaranteed wagers and the Super Hi-5 Jackpot bet in the last race now offering a carry over of more than $200,000. Free programs for some of the bets are available.
Post time is 7:15 pm.
