Pompano Beach, FL — Joseph Pennacchio, President of the Florida Standardbred Breeders and Owners Association has announced the signing of a new contract, effective immediately, between the FSBOA and host track Pompano Park.
The agreement guarantees racing at the South Florida track through June 30, 2020.
In signing the agreement, Pennacchio remarked, “We are very pleased to have the contract completed as this gives all of the participants in our sport, whether they be owners, trainers, drivers, caretakers and suppliers to the industry, peace of mind for the foreseeable future.
“This track has been the winter home for many horsemen for more than a half century and we are hopeful that this is the beginning of yet another half century for present and future horsemen, as well as an entertainment mecca for residents and guests of South Florida.
“I would like to thank Mr. Troy Buswell, Vice President, Ms. Stacy Cahill, Director of Racing and Mr. Joe Frasure, Racing Secretary, for their tireless efforts on everyone’s behalf.”
Pompano Park opened on Feb. 4, 1964 and has been host to world class harness racing with many world’s champions competing over its famed five-eighths-mile oval.
