Keith Gisser offers his picks for the $10,000 Pick-4 at Northfield Park on August 8, part of the USTA Strategic Wagering program. Northfield Park Pick-4, Races 8-11, Monday, August 8, 2011 Wednesday result: Decided to leave Chang Dynasty off the ticket and the 4-5 fave broke things up, which became moot when my single, SJ’s Manawa Sam, lost too. But the Pick-4 paid nearly $400 with a co-favorite, two second choices (2-1 and 3-1) and Chang Dynasty. That, boys and girls, is value. Period.
$1 play: 46/456/1237/12 = $48
Analysis:
Race 8: (4) Ideal Treasure was huge in the maiden win. Who cares if she is six? (6) Take A Shot Scott shows consistent good efforts at Scioto and gets Aaron Merriman.
Race 9: Noble chose (5) Category Six over (4) Bodandy Andy, who gets Merriman and won’t be hurt. They seem the two best, but (6) Tieler Bea Hotspur can sneak in a strong mile when you least expect it.
Race 10: Wide open and I could easily go six deep. (3) Mutual Funs will be overbet and trotters coming in from Buffalo/Batavia generally don’t do well here first time back.
Race 11: (2) Blue My Mind raced well against a prety classy animal in Polo Joe last week and gets the edge; (1) Three Sox Missing had the class opened up for him, gets the rail and gets back red-hot Russ Swartz, who won with him in this class two back.
