GSY to present pacing series at Monticello and Big M

Tenafly, NJ — Monticello Raceway and The Meadowlands have agreed to host a GSY Series for pacers beginning on May 13, 2021. The series will consist of five legs and a final, scheduled as follows:

Monticello Raceway – First Two Legs
Thursday, May 13 – $6,000 purse
Thursday, May 20 – $6,000 purse

The Monticello races are for non-winners of $5,000 in their last five starts with an optional $12,500 claiming price. Horses that raced with a claiming tag of $12,500 or less in two of their last three starts do not have to be tagged. Horses that raced in a class higher than “non-winners $5,000 last five starts” in their last start, unless tagged or have raced with a claiming tag of $12,500 or less in two of their last three starts, are ineligible.

Preference will be given to horses owned by the participating drivers, and all drivers must be paid members of the GSY Club.

The draw for the first leg will be on Monday (May 10) at 9 a.m.

Meadowlands Racetrack – Next Three Legs
Friday, May 28 – $11,500 purse
Friday, June 4 – $11,500 purse
Friday, June 11 – $11,500 purse

The Meadowlands races will be for non-winners of $4,500 in their last five starts ($5,100 for New Jersey-owned or sired or non-winners of a race in their last starts) with an optional $12,500 claiming price. Horses that raced with a claiming tag of $12,500 or less in two of their last their starts do not have to be tagged. Horses that raced in a class higher than “non-winners $7,500 last five starts” in their last start or that have a TrackMaster rating of over 83, unless tagged or have raced with a claiming tag of $12,500 or less in two of their last three starts, are ineligible.

Preference will be given to horses owned by the participating drivers, and all drivers must be paid members of the GSY Club.

The draw for the first leg at the Meadowlands will be on Tuesday, May 25, at 9 a.m.

Meadowlands Racetrack – Final

Friday, June 18 – $15,000 est. purse.

The top 10 point-earning drivers are eligible for the final.

A horse must have raced in one of the five preliminary legs to be eligible to be raced in the final.
